Roasted Root Veggie Trio – Baby’s Stage 1 Puree, Stage 2 Mash and Stage 3 Chunky
Yesterday I roasted some parsnips, purple-top turnips, carrots and 1 bulb of garlic total delicious yumminess! I combined the prepared veggies with some chicken breasts in a large roasting pan.
My family likes roasted veggies best when they are combined with chicken as the broth from the roasting chicken really enhances the flavor of the veggies. If you do combine the veggies with chicken or any other meat, be sure to thoroughly trim off any fat to minimize greasiness!

Boyfriend Has Low Testosterone. What Can Lu Do?
Lu posts these concerns to Metabolism.com
My boyfriend is in his early 40′s and has been taking testosterone therapy. Instead of his levels increasing, they have decreased…his total is now in the single digits. He takes very good care of himself as he is a fitness trainer and body builder (takes vitamins, etc.). Obviously, with his total level being in the single digits, he has all the “symptoms” of low-T and is frustrated that the therapy is having a reverse reaction. He also suffers from Migraines and has recently been in a car accident that he suffered brain trauma in. I’m wondering if there could be a connection between the trauma and low-T or lower T. Any advice
The ‘How Fat Are You?’ Flowchart

Id like to say that most people are relatively self aware when it comes to their physical appearance. As in, they know whether theyre out of shape and need some work. What lies below is a little visual help for those that arent in tune with reality. Or for those that just want a laugh because frankly, I was bored and wanted an excuse to doodle. Enjoy.
Predicting genetic risk for disease
A lot has been written about the potential for genomic information to revolutionize medicine. Much of the excitement centers around the idea that if we know an individual’s genome we can use this information to predict risk of a particular disease and then give specific treatment. In a research article published in the latest issue of Genome Medicine, Cecile Janssens, Muin Khoury and colleagues improve current models of genetic risk, taking us one step nearer to this aim.
Genetic risk prediction is a very active area of research, boosted by the number of genetic variants associated with common diseases that have been recently discovered through genome-wide association studies. Pr
DHEC accepting ‘Champions of the Environment’ award applications
COLUMBIA, S.C. – The S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control’s Champions of the Environment program is accepting applications for its 2011-2012 season, the agency announced today.
“This competitive grant award program is a great opportunity for individual students and school groups working on well-planned, hands-on environmental projects to receive grant funding to protect and improve the water, air and land,” said Amanda Ley, coordinator of Champions of the Environment.
“Eligible projects must involve K-12 students in South Carolina and address an environmental issue in one or more of the following categories: prevention or reduction of pollution in the air, water or land; waste reduction; restoration, preservation or enhancement of natural areas; or water or energy efficiency,” Ley said. “Projects
Percutaneous elastic intramedullary nailing of metacarpal fractures: Surgical technique and clinical results study.
Published: 19 July 2011
We reviewed our results and complications of using a pre-bent 1.6mm Kirschner wire (K-wire) for extra-articular metacarpal fractures. The surgical procedure is indicated for angulation at the fracture site in a true lateral radiograph of at least 30 degrees and/or in the presence of a rotatory deformity. A single K-wire is pre-bent in a lazy-S fashion with a sharp bend at approximately 5 millimetres and a longer smooth curve bent in the opposite direction. An initial entry point is made at the base of the metacarpal using a 2.5mm drill by hand. The K-wire is inserted blunt end first in an antegrade manner and the fracture reduced as the wire is passed across the fracture site.
